Sherline 1163 - 8mm Collet Adapter andDrawbarThe collet adapter goes into the #1 Morsetaper of the headstock. WW collets are then placed in the adapterand are drawn up tight using the drawbar which passes through thehole in the spindle. The advantage of WW collets is that they havea hole through them for holding long stock. Therefore, the WWcollet drawbar is hollow also and threaded inside to grip theexternal threads of the WW collets. Material up to 3/16" indiameter can pass through the WW collet and drawbar.A knockout bar is also included to helpremove the adapter from the tapered spindle. This same adapter anddrawbar are included in the P/N 1160 5-piece collet set and thedeluxe sets P/N 1162 (inch) and P/N1179 (metric).NOTE: Sherline WW collets have a bodydiameter of .312 to .313". Collets made by other manufacturers mayhave a larger body diameter of .314 to .315". We identify those as8 mm collets and also make an adapter to hold them (P/N 1163). Ifyou are using non-Sherline collets, measure the body diameter witha micrometer to determine which adapter to order.
